Bradford Optimo™ Underfloor - R2.5 X 415 * 1160 (90mm - 3.9m² Pack)

Product Description

About Optimo Underfloor Glasswool Insulation

Installing Bradford Optimo™ is like slipping on a thick pair of socks that stops the cold entering your home and keeps your toes warm.

If you have an older home, installing ceiling insulation is a great way to improve your comfort and energy efficiency, but if your home has been built suspended off the ground, your floor could be letting you down and as electricity costs spiral upwards this can result in nasty surprises when you receive each quarterly bill.

Even where homes are well-insulated, households could still be losing as much as 15 – 20% of their heating and cooling energy use through the floor. Bradford Optimo™ is a rigid, high density insulation with excellent thermal and acoustic properties, specifically developed to increase the comfort, energy efficiency and safety of homes with suspended timber floors. Step by step instructions on every pack make installation of Bradford Optimo an easy DIY job.

Bradford Optimo™ is manufactured under ISO 9002 Quality Systems and complies with AS4859.1 “Materials for the Thermal Insulation of Buildings”. This is your assurance that it will provide the level of performance stated on the pack. Established over 75 years ago, Bradford Insulation is Australia’s most experienced domestic insulation company. This experience, combined with our world class manufacturing technology is your guarantee of quality and performance, all backed by CSR, Australia’s leading building materials company.

  1. Faultless 5 Star Review

I live in the Campbelltown area in South West Sydney and have wood floors through our whole house. I installed these for our whole house on my own over a couple of weekends and it has made a huge difference. As I added more rooms to the "rollout" we were able to notice the difference moving from insulated to uninsulated areas.

Installation was easy, but I learned a few lessons on the way. First lesson was not to open a pack of batts when they are stacked on top of each other while up in the tightest confines under the house. The first pack I opened expanded vertically and jammed nice and tightly against one of the beams. And of course there's barely room to crawl in those tight spaces. So make sure you open them on their side and all is well.

A good mask and some seriously good goggles are a must - only because the $10-15 3M (I think) goggles I got from Bunnings fogged up something shocking. In the end, the only way to work with the goggles was to make sure I didn't dry them and let the condensation keep them wet which made things a little blurry but at least I could see through.

Very happy with the product and even the price is good. We have a small house and I overbought on the insulation, but still only ended up with a $1200 bill. Pretty good deal if you're happy to do the work yourself.

I'd consider the Optimo straps to be essential too, although you need to screw in rather than nail into hard-wood. Nailing was a nightmare so I grabbed a cordless screwdriver and shortened the time needed massively.

We live in a very cold area, down to -3 degrees overnight (on occasion). Since installing only 30% of the total square meterage required to insulate our underfloor area, we have noticed an approximate 3 degree temperature increase in corresponding un-heated rooms. We are looking forward to completing the rest of our house!

We live in a coldish area, temps down to 2 degrees and have polished floors throughout our house. Couldn't walk on the floor in winter as it felt like ice, since installing the insulation ourselves we can now walk barefoot comfortably! We should have done it years ago!
